Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced bettors are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor a chance to double their wins, in which case a further hand is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
