How to Enjoy Video Poker

Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web account. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be "distributed" on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the player has selected which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most profitable ones every instance.

Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the player a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
