After the player has selected which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial ones every instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to increase their wins, in which instance another hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
